A Midsummer Night’s Dream – 2017
Shakespeare's, A Midsummer Night's Dream
Daniel Taylor’s immersive production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (“the rude mechanicals”) who are manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest where most of the play is set.
The Epstein Theatre’s first-ever presentation of a Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream also marked Daniel Taylor’s debut as a stage director. The production by Daniel Taylor Productions received rave reviews and delighted audiences of all ages.
Adapted by Helen Jeffrey, this production is high-energy and laugh-out-loud, recreating all the vitality of the earliest performances of Shakespeare’s effervescent comedy.
